Jades, S.A. helped workers rom Camotan, one of the poorest and most remote areas of Guatemala, to learn to polish, grind, shape, and drill a soft calcite stone from their own land.
They were taught how to make ornamental pieces and jewelry to sell in Guatemala’s internal tourist market. These entrepreneurs create fossil calcite beads and statues which they sell in the local marketplaces.
